The Berlin Metropolitan School Model United Nations Club is made up of a group of committed Secondary students who take part in simulations and conferences both online and around the world on current political, social, and economic topics of global significance. Lead by our Secondary students and supported by our Humanities Department Faculty, the club is a testament to the engagement and enthusiasm our students show for international issues that impact their world and future generations.
Part of the group´s mission is to encourage their peers to work for a better future from an environmental, political, social, and economic point of view. In preparation for the simulations throughout the year, students learn about the United Nations, study key domestic and foreign policy interests from member countries, learn about the power and function of multilateral diplomacy, and use the club as a time to discuss current events.
Moreover, our students have a direct and extended practical application of their learning through the club activities, such as the development of their research, practicing public speaking skills, analyzing the impacts of global governance, as well as developing diplomatic and social skills by preparing for speeches, committee group meetings, or their role as chairperson in future conferences.
