Our teaching methods are closely linked to our school mission: to help students discover their unique abilities, to become aware of their place in a globalized world, and lastly, to ensure that each of our students is provided with the opportunity to access our curriculum. Our commitment to learning can be seen in our teaching methods, where the passion for learning is evident and palpable in the classroom and where each student is encouraged to be the initiator of their own learning.
Our teaching ethos combines the best practices of learning for and by the student. To this end, our method is anchored in key areas which support the learning pathway of our Secondary students; our approach is mutually supportive and seeks to foster the knowledge and skills required to successfully see our school program, in all of its many facets, unfold.
Our teachers seek to establish a two-way path of communication with our students, combined with a view to support a triad of active learning: establishing a baseline of understanding, providing guided and directed practice and introducing mastery activities which solidify both meaning and achievement. Our teachers seek to build the most cooperative learning environment, where students work together with a rapid and effective feedback loop from teachers.
Students learn with and for one another and thereby mutually support their ability to process the information and establish a long-term understanding. To best facilitate this method, our teachers practice trusted techniques of differentiation so that each student has the ability to access our curriculum; visual learning tools, lectures, pictures, videos and scaffolding techniques are employed to achieve this critical aspect and to respect the needs of a diverse group of learners.
