Silke Friedrich, Executive Director
Silke Friedrich studied Social and Business Communication at Berlin University of the Arts. She has been the committed and passionate Executive Director of Berlin Metropolitan School since 2007. In this position, she has played a major role in shaping the school’s development in recent years. As the spokeswoman for BMS, she is also responsible for the structural expansion of the school in the fields of governance and curriculum. Her aim is to establish BMS as a leading educational institute over the long-term and to set new standards for a modern, values-based education. In addition to strategic development and quality management, the topic of internal and external communication is also one of her key areas of responsibility.
Susanne Wodraschke, Early Learning Center Principal
Susanne Wodraschke is a specialist for Early Childhood Education and an enthusiastic advocate for young children and their families. She studied Adult Education at University of Education Freiburg and Early Childhood Education at University of Sydney. Susanne has held multiple roles during her career in education, such as director, ECE-teacher, lecturer and evaluator within ECE institutions worldwide. Susanne's core interests within the field are diversity education, community building, inclusion and media education for young children.
Jenny O´Fee, Primary School Principal
Jenny O’Fee has more than 16 years of experience in international education, particularly in bilingual schools. She is an expert for the Primary School area and has gained valuable experience as a former Head of Primary School. At BMS, she strengthens our Leadership Team as Principal Primary School. Her area of interest is the optimum use of technologies in the classroom to effectively support the learning process and teaching methods.
Paul Churchill, Secondary School Principal
Paul Churchill joins BMS with over 2 decades of experience as an international educator and leader, having honed his skills at numerous IB World Schools throughout Europe. He is passionate about empowering students and teachers to benefit from the IB Philosophy of education and fostering a sense of critical reflection and creative innovation in the classroom. Paul is passionate about creating a holistic culture of learning, where students are supported in both their academic success and character development throughout their Secondary education. Prior to joining BMS, Paul was the Vice Principal at the International School of Paris for 8 years and a IB DP teacher of History.
Martin Ecker, CCEP Director
Martin Ecker has many years of experience as a lecturer in teaching theater studies. In addition, he has extensive experience in various management roles in the communications industry and as a communications advisor, which he brings to his duties as the head of our after-school program. Martin Ecker has been aiding the development of BMS by building up the content and structure of the BMS Co-Curricula program since October 2009.
Toni Goll, Business Director
Toni Goll has been working for Berlin Metropolitan School since February 2007. Trained as a banking specialist, he was responsible for credit commitments in the professional real estate business of a major European bank, has experience as a corporate finance controller, and has managed the commercial transactions of major investment activities on behalf of companies. Toni Goll is head of finance and administration for the school and is also responsible for the infrastructural development of the school grounds and facilities.
Justine Otte, Vice Principal Lower Primary School
Before joining BMS, Justine Otte previously spent 8 years at Frankfurt International School, where she honed her leadership skills as a team leader and curriculum coordinator during her tenure. Justine also brings with her over a decade of teaching experience, specializing in upper primary education and language arts. As Vice Principal of the Primary School, Justine is committed to empowering both teachers and students to benefit fully from a strong culture of teaching and learning.
Tim Stroh, Vice Principal Upper Primary School
Tim Stroh has over 16 years of international teaching and leadership experience in schools throughout Europe. He has previously worked as the PYP Coordinator at BMS and has a strong interest in curriculum development, technology in education and concept based teaching and learning. As Vice Principal of Upper Primary, Tim is committed to developing agency in students and fostering learning connections that go beyond the classroom walls.
Dr. Karsten Plöger, Secondary School Vice Principal
Prior to joining BMS, Karsten Plöger spent eight years at a leading international boarding school in the Swiss Alps, where held a variety of senior leadership positions, gaining invaluable experience in school management and development. Following completion of his doctoral research in medieval history, Karsten initially embarked on an academic career, which saw him hold a position as a Research Fellow at the German Historical Institute London. Karsten thinks of schools as communities of growth and empowerment and is passionate about shaping these communities in order to give students the best possible preparation for the fast-changing world of the 21st century.
