Berlin Metropolitan School

Berlin Metropolitan School

As the oldest and largest international school in Berlin’s Mitte district, Berlin Metropolitan School offers an education that includes both local and international standards and one in which an inspiring, open and welcoming place of learning can unfold. Berlin Metropolitan School promotes a culture of openness, respect, joy of learning, and cooperation.

Our vision of education focuses on attaining the best academic results and on fostering the development of dynamic, considerate and responsible characters. We are located in Berlin’s Mitte district, a melting pot of cultures, a place of art and culture, and the political heart of Europe. Just as our school shapes the local area, our school curriculum reflects the location of our school – art, culture, an international outlook, political education, and character development are all a part of our curriculum and motivate both our teachers and our families.

Our school philosophy is as simple as it is challenging: Inspire each other – grow together. We see ourselves as a partner for our students and their families, who learn from each other in an atmosphere of trust and respect, who spur each other on, and motivate one another with the common goal of further development. The sharing of common values and a high level of ambition, the merging of different cultures, and the collective concern for the welfare of our students, form the basis of our school’s philosophy.

Berlin Metropolitan School is a recognized member of the international school community and is actively engaged in the Association of German International Schools, the European Council of International Schools and the Council of International Schools. BMS is a certified IB World School, certified Cambridge Exam Center, a state-recognized substitute school as certified by the Berlin Senate for grades 1 to 10, as well as a supplementary school for grades 11 and 12.
