At the Berlin Metropolitan School, teachers from many countries – Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, South Africa and the United States – come together to create a stimulating learning environment for their students. Teachers from abroad bring native proficiency in the English language and teaching qualifications from their respective countries; they also bring their cultures –traditions, literature, and perspectives – to their classrooms in Berlin. In the same classrooms, German teachers ensure that children receive a challenging education in the German language and content areas. Together teachers form a team that is committed to helping children develop confidence, competence, and, above all, a love of learning.

Teachers at BMS learn from their students, with their students and for their students. We believe that to teach well is to continue to learn. The building of a strong professional culture has been a high priority of the school since its establishment. Teachers are encouraged to share best practices with each other, to plan the school program jointly, and to further their own education through in-service training, local conferences, and international gatherings.

Each class of twenty students has a full-time English teacher, a part-time German teacher and special teachers for art, music, drama, and physical education.
