Early Learning

Our K-12 school program is designed to ensure continuity in the values and content we teach as well as in our teaching methods throughout our students' entire schooling. This focus on continuity means that no time is lost in implementing program points: we begin the process starting in kindergarten. We offer children ages 3 and higher the opportunity to develop their talents here on our campus, giving them dedicated support to ensure a smooth and successful transition to school.

Our work accommodates different needs by responding to each child's individual personality and capabilities, and encouraging learning appropriate to his or her development level. Starting in the "early learning" phase, we already combine the IB and Berlin State curricula.

In the entire preschool program, classes are bilingual and have two teachers: one German native speaker and one from an English-speaking country. Whether one or both languages are foreign to the children, we use the “immersion” method of learning. Teachers only speak their native language to the children so they learn to understand and speak in a natural context.

The curriculum is based on the holistic approach of the PYP, guided by the principles “learning by doing” and “learning through playing”. In this way, children are encouraged to discover their individual qualities and talents. Our teachers are open, warm and caring with the children and pay special attention to creating relationships built on trust.

Children ages 3 and 4 spend their first year in our kindergarten. When they are 5 and 6, they attend our preschool which prepares them for entry to primary school. The children in all of the groups are the same age. The group rooms for the kindergarten and preschool are located on the ground floor so that our youngest students never have far to go and are not hindered by any obstacles.
