Maintaining close, trusting relationships with the families of our school is key to providing our students with the best possible educational experience. We use the following instruments to inform our families about school development, the curriculum and the individual learning successes of their children:

On Thursdays, the homeroom teachers send out a so-called “Thursday Letter” to the families containing information about the work in the units, the current topics in the main subjects, and projects taking place in the classroom.

Within the framework of the “Unit Letters,” prior to each new unit of inquiry (unit of the PYP Programme) our families receive a thorough description of the project, the targeted learning goals, the skills required, and the expected result.

Three times a year we inform our parents about school development topics in our “BMS Quarterly”.

We hold parent conferences twice a year, which provide all families with the opportunity to discuss the learning achievements of their children.

Once a year we hold a learning conference organized by the students. These so-called “student-led conferences” are prepared by the students in order to present the results of their work to the parents and to discuss learning goals together with parents.

Beginning in Secondary School, we use the “Engrade” portal where, with the help of a password, parents and students can access test grades and exam announcements.

In addition, it is important to us that our parents are informed about the most important principles of our program in order to understand and support our work. We therefore regularly invite families to workshops in which we present essential elements of our school program in detail and using examples derived from practice. We often commission experts to provide us with information on specific issues.
